Dong Hoi

Next stop was Dong Hoi, not too much happens in Dong Hoi but people come here so they can visit Ke Bang national Park. Here you have Phong Nha cave which is about 8 kilometers long, a boat trip can take you through the first few kilometers its so big inside. It was used during the war with America to hide soldiers and arms. After the Phong Nha cave we travelled to the Paridise cave, this was even more amazing with huge chambers and massive stalagmites and stalagtites. The cave system itself is one of the longest in the world at over 30 kilometers long, only found by a local man a few years ago he was too afraid to go in, it was in fact explored and mapped by the British Caving Association.

I went down to the beach one day at around mid afternoon, i was amazed to find it completely empty, i mean totally empty !! It was just so hot that the locals only apparantly come down to the beach at about 5 a.m. and then late in the evening. The sand was burning and the air like it was coming out of a hair dryer.
