So the year 2015 is coming to an end. I started in Blighty and have ended in Blighty. The weather was the same.
Fortunately every thing I did in between was different !!
At the beginning of the year I spotted a cheap flight to Mexico and thought ‘Why not ?’. This started a small trip around central America concentrating on Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.
Chichen Itza Mexico –
Tulum, Mexico –
Caye Caulker, Belize –
Tikal ruins, Guatemala –
The cobbled streets of Antigua, the town overlooked by volcanoes –
I was supposed to cover more ground but found an awful lot to do in Guatemala and genuinely liked the place and its people.
Lake Atilan, Guatemala –
Sunrise at Lake Atilan –
After approximately 8 weeks in central America I paid a quick visit to my brother in San Francisco to visit his family.
Theres only one real image of San Fran isn’t there ?
Oh, and the clam chowder !! –
Next stop was the southern hemisphere and New Zealand, I spent a great month exploring the south island.
Lake Wanaka after a cold spell surprised us all –
Beautiful Milford Sound –
Always great views in New Zealand –
A quick stop in Brisbane to join the boat I was going to be on for the next 5 months –
We sailed across to New Caledonia and visited the Isle Of Pines –
Ouvea, The Loyalty Islands –
Many a beautiful sunset in New Caledonia –
Then onto Vanuatu and its happy people –
Quick stop Chesterfield Reef, 500 miles from Vanuatu, 500 miles to go to Australia –
Back to Australia to say goodbye to the boat –
Onwards and upwards lead me onto the Solomon Islands –
After the Solomons I continued up to Papua New Guinea to spend 8 weeks cruising mostly around New Ireland.
Calling in to see the Morobe show in Lae –
I left PNG and again found myself in Brisbane, this time though I was homeward bound. I was heading back for Christmas and due to the cost of flights found myself heading to Bali for a nice stopover before returning to England.
Very Indonesian –
So another year over, a total of 11 countries visited, some of them more than once, some visited again but in much more depth.
